Lesson 2: Which side is the Blob on?
The Contradiction
The Blob as a Right-Wing Anti-Communist Force
In Lesson 1, we learned about what the Blob is. In summary, it is the combination of military, diplomacy, and intelligence organizations in the federal government and their partners in the private sector, civil society, and media.
We learned about some of the activities the Blob has participated in, for example:
Operation PBSUCCESS to overthrow the government of Guatemala
Operation AJAX to overthrow the government of Iran
Both are considered to be part of the Cold War, meaning they were in opposition to the “spread of communism” during the mid-20th century. Thus, the natural conclusion would be that the Blob is a right-wing organization that targets leftists and communists. This would fit into the common notion that the military, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies are Conservative institutions.
This would be further confirmed by the organizations targeted by the FBI’s Counter Intelligence Program (COINTELPRO) of the same time period, for example:
And even more, by the Blob’s opposition to modern day communist governments like that of North Korea.
So naturally, one would conclude that the Blob is a right-wing anti-communist force. But that conclusion would be wrong.
The Blob as a Left-Wing Anti-Nationalist Force
There are, in fact, a number of examples in which the Blob has been just the opposite, for example:
Their role in discrediting, overthrowing, and then prosecuting conservative Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro
Their role in discrediting, overthrowing, and then prosecuting conservative Romanian Presidential candidate Calin Georgescu
Their role in discrediting, overthrowing, and then prosecuting conservative American President Donald Trump
And just like the FBI targeted left-wing groups with COINTELPRO, they targeted right-wing groups with their Patriot Conspiracy operation (PATCON).
Even further, the Blob provides funding and support to Black Lives Matter as well as LGBT movements.
So, which is it?
The Blob as Both
Even more confusing is the fact that often the Blob is both at the same time. For example, in Lesson 1 we learned that the National Endowment for Democracy has both a Republican and Democrat side, called the NDI and IRI respectively. It also has a corporate side and a labor side, called the CIPE and Solidarity Center respectively.
Further, we learned that Blob organizations like the Atlantic Council feature Democrat members like Leon Panetta and Republican members like Condoleezza Rice.
How can this be?
The Blob’s Mission
Tracing back yet again to Lesson 1, we learned about The Inauguration of Organized Political Warfare, a State Department Policy Planning Memorandum from 1948 describing in effect the mission of the Blob:
Political warfare is the logical application of Clausewitz’s doctrine in time of peace. In broadest definition, political warfare is the employment of all the means at a nation’s command, short of war, to achieve its national objectives.
The Blob is tasked with helping achieve America’s national objectives.
We also learned about how the Blob partners with the Donor-Drafter Class in those operations because of how crucial the international market access of American corporations is to American GDP and domestic economic prosperity.
As Mike Benz explains in the above clip, the Blob will happily overthrow both left-wing and right-wing governments if they are perceived as impeding American business interests.
“Open Societies” and “Democracies”
This is where the concepts of Open Societies (as in George Soros’ Open Society Foundation) and Democracies (as in the National Endowment for Democracy) come into play.
When a country allows the Blob’s four quadrants—government, civil society, private sector, and media—to infiltrate (or “develop”) it, it’s considered an “open society” and a “democracy”. When it doesn’t, it’s considered a “closed society” and “illiberal democracy” that is experiencing “democratic backsliding”.
Capacity Building
Just like the Blob oppose both the right-wing and the left-wing at times, they also support both.
Recalling from the Inauguration of Organized Political Warfare:
Such operations are both overt and covert. They range from such overt actions as political alliances, economic measures (as ERP), and “white” propaganda to such covert operations as clandestine support of “friendly” foreign elements, “black” psychological warfare and even encouragement of underground resistance in hostile states.
Three methods of political warfare recommended by Kennan include political alliances, clandestine support of “friendly” foreign elements, and encouragement of underground resistance in hostile states.
All three of these are different manifestations of the principle associated with the age-old saying: Amicus meus, inimicus inimici mei. In English: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
In order to take down a particular ruling faction, the Blob supports their opposition. This is called capacity building. And just as the Blob overthrows left-wing and right-wing governments alike, so too it props up both left-wing and right-wing dissident groups. The Blob also has no problem supporting extremist groups of all varieties for this end.
For example, this declassified email from State Department Policy Planning Director Jake Sullivan to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton detailing that “AQ [al-Qaeda] is on our side in Syria”.
Or this clip of National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski rallying the Mujahideen (the precursor to al-Qaeda and the Taliban) to help fight against Russia.
Or this clip of Senators Graham (R), McCain (R), and Klobuchar (D) rallying Ukrainian militants (who have been alleged to be affiliated with the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion) to help fight against Russia.
Conclusion and Homework: 2020 Case Study
Now that you understand the nature of the Blob’s support for opposing political movements depending on the circumstances, read this article from Time magazine called The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election.
As you read, think back to what you learned in this lesson. Consider investigating the different organizations mentioned in this article and who funds them.
Consider the following questions to guide your mindset:
How are all four quadrants of Whole-of-Society from Lesson 1 represented?
Which political factions joined together in this Blob operation?
What was the national interest justification given for it?
What else, if anything, stands out?
AFTER you’ve read the article and answered the questions on your own, watch this video of Mike Benz giving his analysis on the Transition Integrity Project, a different but similar document. Compare and contrast your conclusions with his.
Leave your answers in the comments below!
Congratulations on completing Lesson 2 of CBS101. I’ll see you on the internet!

The four segments of the whole of society are represented with civil society groups like Protect Democracy whose leader said, “Every attempt to interfere with the proper outcome of the election was defeated…it’s massively important for the country to understand that it didn’t happen accidentally. The system didn’t work magically. Democracy is not self-executing.” In other words, without this organized resistance, they’re unable to prevent Trump’s free and legal election. Government entities like Congress sought “to steer COVID relief money to election administration. $2 billion in election funding was passed that contained $400 million in grants to state election administrators,” all evidence of government officials playing along with the Blob’s financial allocations. Private sector businessmen in Silicon Valley like Zuck facilitated the censoring of American speech during the first Trump presidency and before the 2020 election to control the narrative—just look at the ridiculous collage the article’s top, which includes such mind control techniques like associating the Confederate flag with DJT, given its placement and proximity to him. Media propagandists like TIME and essentially every major outlet lie by default and seek to use Orwellian terms like “racial justice,” which just means directing ignorant people’s resentment against whatever face obstructs the Blob’ op, in this case the White face of the president.
When the objectives of the Blob are in alignment, seemingly partisan groups with conflicting missions can unite, as seen in “The pact formalized in a terse, little-noticed joint statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO published on Election Day, regarding the anti-MAGAism of both. Left wing activists and business leaders united to coup Trump’s legitimate election in 2020, with J6 as a distraction from the election fraud that gave us Biden. They wanted to “keep the peace” and curb the lie that Trump was assaulting democracy,” which is just code for the donor-drafter-deal-maker class’s vested interests.
Using the whole of society as their cudgel, they multi-pronged approach got “states to change voting systems and laws, fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time. They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears. They executed national public-awareness campaigns that helped Americans understand how the vote count would unfold over days or weeks, preventing Trump’s conspiracy theories and false claims of victory from getting more traction. After Election Day, they monitored every pressure point to ensure that Trump could not overturn the result.” As Blob aficionado Norm Eisen said, “The untold story of the election is the thousands of people of both parties who accomplished the triumph of American democracy,” which just means we got what the Blob wanted while the Blob pretended it was all for the people and their best interests.
What stands out is the utter contempt the donor-deal-maker-drafter class have for middle Americans, our views, our hopes and dreams, and our intelligence. What stands out is how they’re actually losing the information war and their desperate scrambling to conspire together to thwart the freely elected leader of this nation and our understanding of their utter treachery suggests they’re far weaker, anxious, and open to exposure than ever before.
